THERE JUST IS NO SUCH THING AS THE PERFECT FLY.
There are only flies that will work for you (and those that will not). A fisherman's limitations are almost as important in determining the selection as the fish’s tastes and preferences. On any particular day, you may be much better off with a human visible fly that you can see easily, which is only moderately attractive to the fish, than the "perfect fly" which cannot be seen against the water surface or does not produce the smashing take. Of course, it’s even better when these coincide!
