VFISH Add-Ons
Venue Creation Guidelines
Some simple guidelines for new VFISH venues...
...No more than 20% of species are permitted to be 'new/first time' species
...We would like to see 100% of the water area covered with objects
Unique Areas
- VFISH venues should contain many many unique areas - its easy enough to achieve greater than 100 so that's what we would judge the venue acceptance on - easiest way is to do your bottom modelling and then add small bits of unused objects scattered around (I write my name and some other things over the bottom just to give some randomness) - its best not to make these too 'thick' a coverage as it will change the overall characteristics that you started with, but lots of little lines or circles or squares will increase the randomness of little pockets here and there. If you would like us to modify your venue to achieve this just ask and we will get it done.
Bottom Coverage with Objects
All of the "water area" of a venue should have corresponding bottom type. Less than 100% wont be accepted because it effectively makes the uncovered area so different than the rest that fish wont normally go there.
Depth Accuracy Variation
...Another guideline (but will be judged individually) is that for 'rough' bottom water - rivers with weeds and branches, lakes with rocks and gravel area etc we would like depth accuracy to show as acceptable or better on venchecker.
...For seas (especially deeper seas) and canals then the bottom is usually fairly level depth accuracy should also show as acceptable on venchecker.
Its always best to think about what the bottom is really like and unless there are loads of drilled holes its best to have some sort of slope to any pits and troughs.
Object Variation
One of the often overlooked values produced in a vencheck report is the Object Var.. We have discussed this to some length and experimented on several venues. The values we have come up for Seas, Canals and Reservoir is > 50% and for Rivers, Ponds and Lakes is > 70%.
Shortnames
All venues that use any species from the VFISH specie packs must have a shortname starting with "vf". This enables anglers to determine if they need to install the VFISH specie packs or not.
Maximum Specie Weights
The maximum weights of every specie should not exceed either the Formal maximum weights list or for VFISH species no more than 5 fish should be greater than 95% of the VFISH maximum weight and they should also be set up to be hard to catch (suggest 5 tests on at least 3 items) to ensure your venue will present a challenge to record hunters.
All Maximum specie weights can be found in THIS FILE.
We don't really care if you meet the above guidelines on fish behaviour but they are there as suggestions on how to make your new venue interesting and challenging and not generally a fish-a-chuck type venue. (Unless of course that's what you want). However VFISH will not use any venue that has any specie exceeding the weights guideline because it would look ridiculous against existing records.
Note that the testers will normally reject any venue that shows any warnings on vencheck.
If you are struggling to correct the warnings the testers will try and help but creators should not submit venues unless there are no Warnings (in lilac) in the vencheck result.
